Rene Rouleau

For over 18 years, Rene has been using his energetic personality and collaborative approach to create and inspire new campaigns that enhance client growth. He’s worked on everything from print to outdoor to radio, but truly found his calling in digital and direct.

In 2007, he joined BBDO Proximity Canada (now BBDO) as a Senior Copywriter. There, he became a rising star working on large 360 campaigns for RBC and Shaw, and was quickly promoted to ACD. He also stretched his digital wings with the M&M’s Find Red campaign that won over 40 awards including three Cannes Lions.

He continued to build his career and track record at FCB, and then returned as CD to BBDO Proximity Canada where his responsibilities ultimately grew to supervising over 30 art directors and writers.

As VP Creative Director at BIMM, Rene lead and drove the work for their largest client, Shaw. He also managed teams and worked with other clients including Loblaws, Bridgestone and Leon’s. Amidst all of this, he took BIMM from an industry-perceived direct shop to Strategy’s Silver Digital Agency of the Year in under two years.

Rene has won over 150 industry-recognized awards for various clients including Mars Canada, RBC, Shaw, Gillette, Smart car and WD-40. He’s won the local shows as well as The Webby Awards, The One Show, Caples, Cannes Lions and New York Festivals. He’s also judged the International DMA ECHO Awards, New York Festivals, Caples and Cannes as well as Canadian shows like The Canadian Marketing Awards, Applied Arts, The Anvils and The ICE Awards.
